Actualidad institucional y económica de España en el marco de la Unión Europea (julio de 2025)
Abstract
Throughout the first half of 2025, the European Union has entered a pivotal transition: Poland’s rotating Presidency has prioritised security and competitiveness, the European Central Bank has continued the rate-cutting cycle, and the electricity-market reform has established stronger consumer protection. For Spain, these six months have meant using the new fiscal framework to uphold green investment, strengthening its role in the eastern enlargement process and consolidating its leadership in renewables. At the same time, the EU agenda has required unprecedented coordination among institutions, businesses and regions: tailor-made fiscal-structural plans, roll-out of the Migration and Asylum Pact, a fresh push for the Capital Markets Union and the first practical steps towards a digital euro. This report analyses how those decisions have affected the Spanish economy and what opportunities and risks lie ahead for the second half of the year.
