The European strategy against anti-Semitism and support for Jewish life. EU reaction to neo anti-Semitism
Abstract
Hate crimes in Europe, especially those against minorities, have soared in recent years. In this climate of widespread hatred, there is one group on which much of the violence is being concentrated. I am referring to anti-Semitism, a plague that has been present in Europe for centuries, but which has been on the rise in recent years. Attacks such as the Halle or Hanau attacks in Germany or the Port de Vincennes are just one example of the anti-Semitic climate in Europe. Because of this hostility, which, although not exclusively anti-Semitic, has put the Jewish community at the center, the European Commission has been forced to develop a strategy to improve the situation of Jews in Europe. Therefore, this paper will try to evaluate to what extent this strategy is adequate for the problems Europe is facing by reviewing the prevailing anti-Semitism in Europe and how the document is adapted to the needs of the Jewish community in our continent.
